A terrace with no side access costs more to scaffold than a detached house with room either side.

Sound brick behind the pebbledash is one job. A wall that has to be hacked off and made good first is another.

An old concrete drive coming up is weight, and weight is lorries and tip fees.

Where the water is going to go. A soakaway or a channel drain is a real line on the quote, not an afterthought.

We recently had our roof replaced and our home fully insulated and rendered, and happy with the finished result.
From the initial quotation through to completion, the team were friendly, professional and worked incredibly hard. They were always happy to answer our questions and kept us informed throughout the project.
The quality of the workmanship really stands out. The new roof, leadwork, gutters, fascias and insulated silicone render have completely transformed the appearance of our home. The attention to detail is excellent, and the house now looks modern, fresh and finished to a very high standard.
The main bulk of the work only took two weeks! Like any major building project, there were a few snagging items and the final clean-up took a little longer than we'd expected.

Render, roofing and block paving, from one team
Five trades under one roof. Most jobs here are a house that needs more than one of them, which is the whole reason the render and roofing side exists alongside the paving.
Silicone render and insulation
Boards fixed back to the brick, mesh and beads over the top, then a topcoat with the colour running right through it.
Driveways
Block paving and resin. We take the old drive up to the sub-base, we do not lay over it.
Roofing
Strip, felt, batten and re-tile. Ridge and verge finished properly.
Patios and landscaping
Sandstone, brick edged steps, artificial grass and fencing.
Brick slips, UPVC and cladding
For elevations where render is not the right answer.

Who you are actually dealing with
Pick A Block started on the ground: driveways, patios, landscaping and fencing. Block paving is still a large part of what the company does and it is where the name came from.
The render and roofing side grew out of it. Customers who had just had a new drive laid kept asking the same question, which was what could be done about the front of the house. Rather than hand that work to somebody else, Kyren built the arm that does it.

How a render job actually runs
Most render websites show you the finish and nothing else. Everything here is photographed on Kyren's own jobs, while the work was still open.

Scaffold and prep
Scaffold to every elevation being worked on, so nobody is stretching off a ladder. Windows and doors masked, and anything coming off the wall comes off first.

Insulation boards
Boards fixed back to the original wall and mechanically pinned. This is the part that changes how the house feels in winter, and the part nobody ever sees again.
- 03
Basecoat and mesh
A reinforcing glass fibre mesh bedded into a basecoat across the boards. This is what stops the finished wall cracking, not the topcoat.
- 04
Beads to every edge
Corner beads, stop beads and bell drips to every edge, reveal and sill. Straight lines here are the reason the finished wall looks straight.

Silicone topcoat
The colour runs right through the coat, so it is not paint sitting on a surface. Silicone sheds water off the face and still lets the wall breathe.

Our team of specialists travel significant distances to get your job sorted. The quickest way to find out about your address is to ask. Kyren answers his own phone, and if he is up a scaffold when your enquiry comes in he rings back, usually within the half hour. The visit is free and the quote is written.
Questions
Do I need planning permission for a new driveway?
Not if the surface is permeable or porous, and not if the water drains to a lawn or border on your own land. Permission is needed for more than five square metres of impermeable surfacing that drains straight onto the road. We lay the drainage as part of the job, so it is handled either way.
Can silicone render go straight onto my existing wall?
Sometimes, and sometimes not. It depends what is already on the wall and what state it is in. Kyren will tell you which one you are looking at when he comes out to measure.
Do you do the roof and the walls at the same time?
Often, yes. If the scaffold is already up it is the sensible moment to deal with the roof, the fascias and the guttering as well as the render. One scaffold, one visit.
How much is it going to cost?
